You see a room covered in cobwebs and rubble. A torch flickers light around. Ibby stands in the middle of the room, looking at you expectantly. \n\nThere's a box in the corner, but it appears to have a lock on it. What will you do?\n\n[[Examine box]]\n[[Try to lift the pillar]]\n[[Ask Ibby what he thinks you should do]]
You head north until you come to a wall that you can just about make out in the darkness. On the wall is a bracer containing a torch, but it isn't lit. What will you do?\n\n[[Take the torch]]\n[[Go back to the middle of the room]]
You turn around to see a mummy! \n\nHe's bound in bandages, with only his eyes and fingers visible - they are brown and shrunken. Still, he seems to be very much alive, waving and still chatting.\n\n"We don't often get visitors, but it's good to have company! And God-fearing company, too. I think we could be friends!"\n\n[[Say Hello]]\n[[Ask the mummy how it can speak English]]\n[[Stare in terror]]\n[[Unsheathe your sword]]
You don't think anyone can hear you, but you shot for help anyway.\n\n"HELLO? IS ANYONE THERE? HELP!"\n\nYou hear nothing in return except something that may or may not be a distant pattering of feet.\n\nHm. Now what?\n\n[[Stand up]]\n[[Yell again]]
You get out your sword, waving it in front of the mummy. He stops.\n\n"Hey now! We don't need any of that! Gosh, no! Just calm down, now!"\n\nWhat do you do?\n\n[[Swing your sword at the mummy]]\n[[Put the offerings back]]\n
You reach out to take the offerings when you hear a shout behind you.\n\n"Stop! Thief!" \n\nYou turn around quickly to see...Oh god! It's a mummy! Sprinting like a fit horse to you! \n\nWhat do you do? \n\n[[Run away!]]\n[[Stand your ground]]
He smiles.\n\n"Alright then. You made the right choice! How about we just forget about this little incident, hm? Now, we don't often get visitors!"\n\n[[Say Hello]]\n[[Ask the mummy how it can speak English]]\n[[Stare in terror]]\n[[Unsheathe your sword]]
The skeleton is very old, some of the bones missing and a lot of them crumbling. There is a faded pair of dog tags next to the skeleton's skull. What now?\n\n[[Examine dog tags]]\n[[Back|Examine area]]
The Pyramid is big - all pyramids are - but notably this one is huge. There are symbols and heiroglyphs up it's sides, and it's made out of sandstone.\n\nMoss runs up from the bottom, but doesn't reach even halfway look up. You think that's quite odd - moss doesn't grow in deserts! But there it is, nonetheless. \n\nWhat will you do?\n\n[[Examine the Area]] \n[[Walk to the Pyramid Entrance]]\n\n\nTo go back to the start, click "Restart".
The box is small and wooden, and only has very thin sides. It's locked by a small padlock which seems to require a code to enter.\n\nOn the top of the box there is a small plaque, which reads:\n\n" \nGive me food, and I will live; give me water, and I will die. What am I?\n"\n\nOn the padlock there is a symbol for fire, for a plant, or for a venomous snake. Which do you choose?\n\n[[Screw this, just kick the box in|Kick box]]\n[[Choose fire]]\n[[Choose the plant]]\n[[Choose the snake]]
You hug him - it just feels right, somehow. \n\nHe leaves your arms smiling. "I'm ready. Thank you, Gina. May the Gods bless you."\n\n"You..you too." Is the only thing you can think of to say as he opens the worker's entrance, sunlight pouring into the dark corridor.\n\nHe closes his eyes and slowly begins to fade from your view, becoming more and more transparent until he's hardly there.\n\nAnd then he isn't. Bones clatter to the floor where he was, along with a roll of old bandages. \n\n[[Leave the pyramid]]
There isn't much after that, just details on how to cast the spell and who it can be cast on. Basically anyone, as long as they are loyal to Pharoah.\n\nYou had no idea the Ancient Egyptians had magic. It's almost like a badly thought out plot point by a lazy writer. \n\nYou really need to talk to Ibby.\n\n[[Tell Ibby]]
"I don't know quite why it is, or why I have all these powers!" Suddenly, all the scrolls float slightly out of their places on the shelf. You jump, but he just smiles. "Like that. I don't even really have to think about it."\n\nYou look at the scrolls now that they've been put back down, slightly shocked. But then again, you're talking to a cursed mummy, so maybe you should just stop being surprised by things today.\n\n[[Look through some scrolls]]
You walk up the door - it's a simple stone slab, but can clearly be pushed around on a hinge. However, it's locked.\n\nYou could break the lock, but you don't want to damage such important historical sites. Never mind any other destruction you may or may not get up to in this game. \n\nWhat do you do?\n\n[[Examine lights]]\n[[Walk to Altar]]
You don't want to admit it, but you're having a lot of fun with Ibby. You don't mention it.\n\nYou shove the scroll into your backpack when he isn't looking, and carry on looking. You laugh, and agree, you share memories...(or what little he has of them). \n\nIt's nice. It's really nice. But when you get to the last scroll, you see his face. He's devestated. You can't do that to your friend.\n\n[[Show the small scroll to Ibby|Point it out to Ibby]]
PYRAMID ADVENTURE
You stay turned towards the Altar, not yet daring to turn around. The voice behind you continues.\n\n"Don't be scared now! I know I'm a bit old and ugly, but you can look, really!"\n\n[[Turn around]]
"Oh, I see. Well, it happens to all of us! Don't be embarrassed!" He pats your back. "Just last century, I got lost in the library for fifty years! Fifty years!"\n\n"...Right." You find yourself smiling amusedly, and stop. "So while I'm here..."\n\n[[Ask if there's any adventuring to be done here]]\n[[Ask whose tomb this is]]
He sighs. "Uh....then I don't know what to offer you. It's not a very busy tomb, this. Not our little pyramid."\n\nYou have nothing else to do.\n\n[[Say you'll do it]]
"Ibby?"\n\n"Yes?"\n\nYou pause before asking, feeling like it's rude. "Can I see underneath your bandages?"\n\n"What bandages?" He turns to you slightly.\n\n"The...bandages. Around your whole body."\n\n"Sorry, I don't know what you're talking about."\n\nYou decide to not bother him about it. \n\n[[Tell him about yourself]]
He seems hurt. Without a word, he opens the worker's entrance, and sunlight rushes into the dark corridor.\n\nHe closes his eyes and slowly begins to fade from your view, becoming more and more transparent until he's hardly there.\n\nAnd then he isn't. Bones clatter to the floor where he was, along with a roll of old bandages. \n\n[[Leave the pyramid|Leave the pyramid2]]
Well, you're no fun.\n\nYou walk away, head bowed, and to your car. You drive away into the distance, thoughts of pyramids clouding your thoughts as you leave what could have been the largest opportunity of your life.\n\nStill, at least you were polite.\n\n~ENDING 1 - A DISAPPOINTING JOURNEY - DISCOVERED~\n\n[[Back to last mistake|Translate the words]]
Nothing. Not even those noises that you may or may not have made up. Just your own voice echoing around at you.\n\n[[Stand up]]
The fires burn ferociously, casting an orange, on-off light on the room. They're using straw and coal as fuel, and have obviously been lit recently.\n\nYou're not alone here.\n\n[[Walk to Altar]]\n[[Go to door]]
You stand up, taking a deep breath. Of all your adventures, this has been one you will never forget.\n\nYou walk out of the pyramid, feeling that if you had taken the gold, you wouldn't feel the happy glow you do now - the feeling of doing a friend right.\n\nYou know you'll always remember Ibby. And your adventure in the pyramid.\n\nBut now it's onto the next adventure. \n\nChina, maybe?\n\n~END~\n\n
He shrugs. "I don't know. You're the one who wanted an adventure!"\n\nHe's not going to be much use.\n\n[[Look around]]
You head over to the entrance.\n\n\nIt's huge - a door bigger than three of you, and it's much like the rest of the pyramid, covered in runes and heiroglyphs. In the middle is a large stone tablet hung between the doors, large words written on.\n\nThere doesn't seem to be a way to open the door, but the tablet can be pushed backward.\n\n\n[[Translate the words]]\n[[Try to push the tablet]]\n[[Kick the door]]\n\nTo go back to the start, click 'restart'.
You leave the pyramid, happy that you saw your friend through to the end.\n\nAlthough...\nThe coins jingle in your pack, almost seeming to remind you that you stole from him. The sound makes you stop walking for a moment, and turn around.\n\nQuietly, even though no one will hear, you whisper an apology.\n\nWith that done, you turn around and try to think about your next adventure.\n\nYou think you might go to America.\n\n~END~
He seems hurt. Without a word, he opens the worker's entrance, and sunlight rushes into the dark corridor.\n\nHe closes his eyes and slowly begins to fade from your view, becoming more and more transparent until he's hardly there.\n\nAnd then he isn't. You take a hearty swig of the liquid. \n\nSuddenly, you feel strong, confident and hot as hell. You feel ready for anything! You turn around with a grin.\n\n"..Gina? You um, you seem different." Ibby looks you up and down as you walk past him, pushing him slightly aside. \n\nYou think you could do anything right now. What do you do?\n\n[[Lift the pillar]]\n[[Kiss Ibby]]\n[[Admire yourself in your pocket watch mirror]]
You leave the pyramid feeling guilty. Not only did you steal from his precious Pharoah, you were rude to the guy in his last moments.\n\nBut an adventurer has to do these things to stop getting attached.\n\nYou take a deep breath and try to forget about the whole thing and plan your next adventure.\n\nYou're considering going to Australia.\n\n~END~
You go south until you reach a blank wall. There's a button, but also a big sign above it that says DANGER!!! DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON.\n\nThe sign appears to have been scrawled on notebook paper by a past adventurer. \n\nWhat will you do?\n\n[[Press button|Press button2]]
You head up to the Altar.\n\nThere was once a great statue here, but now only the legs up to the knees remain, the rest of it crumbling in pieces around the Altar. \n\nThe Altar itself is made of what looks like gold, with a bowl on it. Inside is some coins and a flower.\n\nWhat do you do?\n\n[[Take offerings]]\n[[Leave an offering]]\n
It's a dead end, but you do see some rather rude carvings of serving girls on the wall. One of them is even...oh no, it's simply too improper to tell!\n\n[[Head back to the middle of the room]]
He enthusiastically poses, ready to give this information. "Well! This is the tomb of..." A pause. "Of..." A longer pause - you begin to tap your foot. "...Um. I can't...quite..remember. Oh, It's just on the tip of my tongue. Argh!"\n\nHe stands there mumbling to himself. This is going nowhere.\n\n[[Back|Say you're here to discover new historical facts]]
You walk back to the middle. Now what?\n\n[[Head west]]\n[[Head east|Go east]]\n[[Head south]]
Okay, you're feeling confident and sexy, but he *IS* a corpse.\n\nYou decide not to. Besides, you don't even know the guy that well.\n\n[[Lift the pillar]]\n[[Admire yourself in your pocket watch mirror]]
CHAPTER 4 - THE RECORDS ROOM\n\nThe records room is dark at first, but then Ibby does...something (you hear him mumble, but you're not sure what he says) and the room's torches light instantly.\n\nThis reveals a room full of shelves, and those shelves are full of scrolls. \n\nIbby starts to dart about excitedly, looking at random scrolls.\n\n[[Pick up the nearest scroll]]\n[[Ask Ibby what he's looking for in here]]
You flip through some of the scrolls, reading the titles as you pass.\n\n"Building Adventures: What not to do" Seems boring, and complicated.\n\n"Sahc-Ji and J'Ram-Kur" It seems to be a myth, but it's unreadable, the scroll long worn out.\n\n"Heat in the Embalming Chamber" Looks rather raunchy. You think you might come back for that one later, maybe.\n\nEventually, one catches your eye - "The Eternal Guardian." You pull it out. Ibby doesn't seem interested, reading through scrolls himself.\n\n[[Read The Eternal Guardian.]]
You run and push Ibby aside roughly. He hits the ground with a thwak, and is too stunned to do anything immediately.\n\nYou take the opportunity to stuff your back and hands with as much gold as you possibly can, and run out before he can catch you.\n\n"Gina?! Gina?!" Seems to be all he can yell after you, as you swing around the corner and find the workers entrance, opening it and slipping out into the sun. You're safe.\n\nYou dump all the gold into your car - you're going to be a very rich lady.\n\n~END 6 - MORE FINANCIAL THAN MORAL CONCERN - DISCOVERED~\n\n[[Back to last mistake|Open bag over the scroll]]
CHAPTER 5 - A FRIEND IS WORTH MORE THAN GOLD...RIGHT?\n\nThe burial chamber is amazing. Fabulous. Gold glitters in every corner, on every wall...you can barely even believe what you see. Ibby seems just as amazed.\n\n"Wooow. I never knew it was like this in here! They never let me in." Ibby looks around, and then stops by a large sarcophagus, decorated with a painting of a Pharoah, and covered in gold highlights and tints.\n\nIf you took all of this, you'd be dirty stinking rich for the rest of your life.\n\nBut that isn't the main priority right now.\n\nIbby tries to take the top off the Sarcophagus, but he needs some help - he's puffing like a steam engine.\n\n[[Help Ibby]]\n[[Pocket some gold]]
You can't take the torch from the bracer. It's stuck.\n\n[[Go back to the middle of the room]]
You turn your back and try to look through some scrolls, but he sniffs very, very loudly. Almost as if he's trying to get your attention. \n\nAnother sniff. \n\n[[Comfort him]]
It's very, very dark. You can only see what the sunlight reveals, which is a pile of bones, a lot of sand, and possibly a stone floor beneath. But it's hard to make out.\n\nThe pit appears to be closing again. If you want to get in, you'll have to be quick!\n\n[[Climb down into the pit carefully]]\n[[JUMP IN|Jump in without a care in the world]]
You see a room covered in cobwebs and rubble. A torch flickers light around. Ibby stands in the middle of the room, looking at you expectantly. \n\nThere's a plank of wood leaning against the wall, quite rotten and damp-looking. You push the button.\n\nYou hear something click, and then scream in shock as hundreds of scarab beetles come pouring out of the ceiling, scrabbling all around you. \n\nYou run back to the [[middle of the room.|Walk to the middle of the room]]
He's quiet for a little while, and when he speaks he's definitely not sure.\n\n"Um..I know it's in the thousands?"\n\n"But you don't know." You're getting the feeling he might be the tiniest bit useless.\n\n"No, no, I know! Just not..not right now."\n\nYou sigh.\n\n[[Back|Say you're here to discover new historical facts]]
You take a short walk back, then run and jump into the pit with gay abandon. You soar through the air and down gracefully, right up until you smack against the ground and graze your leg badly. \n\nYou might be an adventurer, but you're not like, Zorro or something. \n\nNow what? It's very dark in the pit, and when you look up you see the entrance closing above you, casting you into total darkness.\n\n[[Examine area]]\n[[Examine leg wound]]\n[[Call for help]]
The plank is wet to touch, and crumbling, rotted. Still, it is possible you could use it to lever the pillar out the way. \n\n[[Take the plank and try to use it to lever the pillar]]\n[[Leave the plank|Look around]]
Nothing happens. Ibby looks at you slightly disapprovingly. To be fair, you are shoving a blank piece of paper up to the mouth of a ruler.\n\n[[Examine Pharoah]]
You walk east until you reach a wall. It's a dead end.\n\nYou're about to turn around when you see, bizarrely, a Zippo lighter on the ground. There's an engraving on the side. What now?\n\n[[Examine Zippo]]\n[[Take Zippo]]\n[[Head back to the middle of the room]]
Slightly wobbly, you stand up. You still can't see much, but the stone floor seems easier to walk on than sand, so you step onto it. Now what?\n\n[[Go north]]\n[[Go south]]\n[[Go west]]\n[[Go east]]
He grins. "Oh, thank you! I've been wanting to do it for decades! I'll take you there, of course. Mhm."\n\nYou nod, trying to at least kind of look forward to cleaning up for some kind of cursed mummy. "So...Sekhemib, can I call you something else?"\n\nHe tilts his head. "Why?"\n\n"Because you have quite a long name." And you're not quite sure you're saying it right.\n\n"But...I've always just been Sekhemib. Um...Oh, my mother, I think, used to call me Ibby as a boy?"\n\nYou nod. "Ibby will do."\n\nHe takes you through the stone door, unlocking it easily and leading you down a dim corridor. It's rather narrow, the sides touching your shoulders lightly.\n\nYou might as well talk as you walk.\n\n[[Ask if he's cursed]]\n[[Ask to see under his bandages]]\n[[Tell him about yourself]]
"Are you cursed?"\n\nHe stops walking. "...No." It's said harshly, as if he doesn't want to say more. You don't want to press the issue.\n\nHe starts to walk again after a moment, hugging himself with his arms.\n\n[[Ask to see under his bandages]]\n[[Tell him about yourself]]
It's a dead end, but you do see some rather rude carvings of serving girls on the wall. One of them is even...oh no, it's simply too improper to tell!\n\n[[Go back to the middle of the room]]

The note says:\n\n"The necklace is for your enemies.\n\nThe bottle is for your success."\n\nWhat a mysterious note! What will you do?\n\n[[Examine necklace]]\n[[Examine bottle]]
You head back to the middle of the room.\nNow what?\n\n[[Light Zippo]]\n[[North]]\n[[West]]\n[[South]]
You try to run, ducking behind one of the pillars, but the mummy continues to follow you. He's still yelling.\n\n"Do you think you can just come in here and-and take all our offerings? Those are for the Gods, you know! How rude. How absolutely rude!"\n\n[[Say that you'll give the offerings back]]\n[[Get out your sword]]
You swing, and yet again he dodges.\n\nHe sighs, and shakes his head. "You made me do this! D-Don't think I won't!" He begins to swirl his hands around, and after a moment, purple mist begins to fill the space between them.\n\nYou find yourself transfixed by the mist and unable to move or swing your sword again. He continues to move his hands, carving and cutting the mist until suddenly he blows it towards you.\n\nYour body feels very, very heavy, and you fall. Before it all goes black, you can hear the mummy sob a small, choked "sorry".\n\n~END 3 - THE RELUCTANT KILLING - DISCOVERED~\n\n[[Back to last mistake|Unsheathe your sword]]
You light the Zippo, hoping to get some light, but it isn't great. You can barely see anymore than before, so you flick it back off and put it back in your pocket. \n\n[[Back|Head back to the middle of the room]]
The pillar is lifted without a problem at all, your hands picking it up as if it was only made of cardboard.\n\nAs soon as you lift it, your spectactular mood fades, but Ibby seems plenty happy enough for the both of you. \n\n"Oh!! Now we can go and see the records! Ahhh, I'm so excited! Now...I know this is a little shocking, but I've actually forgotten well...um. Everything. So this will be very revealing! Let's go!"\n\nHe storms through the door with a determinded look and a strong stride.\n\n[[Follow Ibby to the records room (NEXT CHAPTER)|Records room]]
They're made of out metal, and one bears the engraving of the name "DOUGLAS MEANLEY". The other one is blank. What now?\n\n[[Take the dog tags]]\n[[Back|Examine area]]
"Ah! Brilliant. When you're done here, do tell him Sekhemib says hello, won't you?"\n\n"..Sure. Anything else?" You feel bad for lying, but you've begun now.\n\n"No, it's alright. He's a busy man." He nods, turning a corner in the corridor and ushering you along with him. "Ah! Here we are. It's through that door."\n\n[[Follow Ibby to the door (NEXT CHAPTER)|Follow Ibby]]
You find yourself putting your arms around him. He feels so skinny, and his bandages crackle with age as you bristle past them. He takes the hug willingly, throwing his bony arms around your neck.\n\n"But--but I never asked for this!"\n"Shh.." You don't really know what to say. You've never been in a situation quite like this. \n"I...I don't want to be the guardian anymore. Not if I don't even know what I really look like! Do I look really awful?"\n"Yes."\n"You don't have to be so blunt about it!" \nOkay, that wasn't your best move, but you're not all that tactful anyway.\nHe moves away from you, still sniffling. "Is there a way to break the spell?"\nYou look back over the scroll. "Not that it says...but you'd die if it broke. You're too old to live without the magic."\n"That's fine! Really! I've been alive in this stupid pyramid for far too long!"\n"You said you loved it here."\n"That was before I knew I was forced here forever!" He sighs a shuddering sigh and stands up. "There has to be a way to break the spell somehow. Let's look."\n\n[[Look with Ibby]]\n[[Suggest trying to kill him without breaking the spell]]
CHAPTER 3 - DISCOVERIES, OLD AND NEW\n\nIbby opens the door for you, and stands with his arms in a 'ta-daaaah!' motion. \n\nThere's nothing to be proud of in here. The torches are lit, but the room is full of cobwebs and rubble, and dust. It does need cleaning. \n\nYou see a bat fly out of the room and past you, down the corridor. At least he wasn't lying about the bats.\n\n"Well, as you can see, it needs a bit of doing up." He sighs, looking around with his hands on his hips. "It's a real shame, too. This is where our records are! But I just can't get to them. There's too much rubble." He points to a door nearby, blocked by a large pillar that has fallen on it's side.\n\n[[Try to lift the pillar]]\n[[Ask Ibby what he thinks you should do]]\n[[Look around]]
CHAPTER 2 - A NEW FRIEND\n\nYou come through a trap door on the top of the ladder to a long, well lit chamber. Pillars run along either side of the room, and hanging fires shine flickering light.\n\nThe hanging lights have obviously been lit recently. You push yourself up into the room, and as you look around, see a large altar on one end of the chamber, and a door on the other.\n\n[[Go to door]]\n[[Walk to Altar]]\n[[Examine lights]]\n\n
The Pharoah is shrunken and dried out, his rough brown skin like leather. His face seems to be twisted in agony, but you're not sure - it's halfway decayed.\n\nThere's a small bag by his head. \n\n[[Examine bag]]\n[[Hold the scroll in front of his face]]
It's a pretty basic silver Zippo lighter. The engraving on the side reads, in large capital letters\n\n"AN EXTREMELY CONVENIENT LIGHTER"\n\nWell, you can't argue with that. \n\nNow what?\n\n[[Take Zippo]]
"Ibby? You might want to look at this one."\n\n"Oh?" He shuffles over, kneeling by you as he reads. He seems to be squinting quite hard - his eyes must be worn out. After a while, he turns to you.\n\n"...So why did you want me to read this one?"\n"Because it's about you!"\n"About me?! How?"\n"Ibby, you're the Eternal Guardian!"\n"Me?!"\n"Yes!"\n"Well I am the tombs guardian, but I don't know anything about this 'Eternal' business. It says here he's under illusions, to think he never aged, and--" He stops.\n\nYou raise your eyebrows.\n\n"Oh my Gosh." \n"Mm."\n"But how long has it been?"\n"I don't know. I can't date these Heiroglyphs."\n\nHe seems quite upset, with his head in his hands and his shoulders beginning to shake.\n\n[[Comfort him]]\n[[Put the scroll away and give him some time alone]]
You push the tablet with all your strength. \n\nThere's a loud, creaking noise, and you hear stone and mechanisms sliding and clicking into place. \n\nSuddenly, an arrow shoots to the side of you, and you know this is a trap. What do you do?\n\n[[Stay and try to dodge the arrows]]\n[[Step back]]\n[[Stay still]]
You walk forward and lift off the lid with Ibby, placing it to the side, on the ground. He does an overexaggerated 'phew!' motion and looks back in the sarcophagus.\n\nThere, in aged and cracked clothes, is the Pharoah. Ibby breathes in through what's left of his teeth. "Wow! He looks just as he did on the throne!"\n\nThe Pharoah is withered and quite clearly thousands of years old. \n\n[[Hold the scroll in front of his face]]\n[[Examine Pharoah]]\n

Without a single thought, you empty the locket straight into your mouth, eating the powder. It's very bitter, and you cough a little.\n\n"Oh!" Says Ibby behind you. "Why did you do that?"\n\n"I don't know. It just felt like the kind of thing a gutsy adventurer would do."\n\nHe seems doubtful, but doesn't bother you about it. You turn back to the box, ready to examine the other items, but suddenly your vision is blurry. You sway a little.\n\n"Gina?"\n\nThe room gets darker.\n\n"Gina? "That's easy!" He grins.\n\nHe doesn't say anything afterwards though. "...Well?" You ask, after an uncomfortable pause.\n\n"..Uh...wait, no no, I did know, um..." He scratches his head. "I don't know. Um. A God, probably."\n\n[[Back|Say you're here to discover new historical facts]]
You go south until you reach a blank wall. There's a button, but also a big sign above it that says DANGER!!! DO NOT PRESS THIS BUTTON.\n\nThe sign appears to have been scrawled on notebook paper by a past adventurer. \n\nWhat will you do?\n\n[[Press button]]\n[[Walk to the middle of the room]]
"Changed? How?" He sounds confused.\n\nYou begin to try and explain.\n"Well, there aren't Pharoahs on the throne anymore. Um...your society, it...it died out a long time ago."\n\nHe doesn't say anything for a moment. "...But...Oh." He sounds sad. You try to cheer him up.\n\n"But it's alright! People appreciate Egypt all the time! They go into the Pyramids and bring back burial items and relics, and put them in museums so everyone can see!"\n\n"What?!" Now he just sounds angry. "Those belong to our people!"\n\n"But we appreciate and learn from them!"\n\n"They're ours!" He punches the wall, distressed. "Is that why you came today? Gosh, Gina, If I'd have known.."\n\n"No! No! I came to...to enjoy your wonderful pyramid." You try and smile sweetly.\n\n"Well...alright then." He turns a corner and points to a door in the distance. "There it is. The west wing."\n\n[[Follow Ibby to the door (NEXT CHAPTER)|Follow Ibby]]
You pick the necklace up out of the box. It's lovely - a simple gold chain holding a green stone. There's a seam on the side too - it's a locket!\n\nYou open the locket to reveal some white powder inside.\n\nNow what?\n\n[[Eat the powder]]\n[[Examine note]]\n[[Examine bottle]]
You head north until you come to a wall that you can just about make out in the darkness. On the wall is a bracer containing a torch, but it isn't lit. What will you do?\n\n[[Use Zippo on torch]]\n[[Head back to the middle of the room]]
"Oh, just /wonderful/." He says, nodding. "I lived like a king! Had servants fanning me and feeding me all day, sat on a couch made just for me."\n\nThat's the kind of life you want. "Really? Were you a Pharoah?"\n\nHe bursts out laughing. "No! I'm joking - I think I was a sweeping boy!"\n\nAnnoyed, you roll your eyes. "Well it wasn't funn--wait, 'think'?"\n\n"Er, yes." He seems a touch embarrassed. "I don't...remember."\n\n[[Back|Say you're here to discover new historical facts]]
You take a step or two back, watching the arrows shoot aimlessly at the sand in front of the door. You're feeling pretty superior. \n\nEventually the arrows stop, and you are astonished to see the floor in front of the door open up, sand pouring into it. Presumably a pit for adventurers to fall down into and die, but it may also lead into the pyramid.\n\nWhat will you do?\n\n[[Examine the pit]]\n[[Jump in without a care in the world]]\n
Hell yeah, you're gorgeous.\n\nYou look over yourself. The familiar black hair, wound into a ponytail around the front of your neck, framing your dark-skinned face and perfect teeth. Your green eyes sparkle back at you.\n\nIbby smiles a little behind you. "You look very pretty, Gina!"\n\n[[Kiss Ibby]]\n[[Lift the pillar]]
You get a coin out of your pocket and place it in the bowl. Behind you, you hear footsteps, and a voice says.\n\n"Oh, that's very nice of you! Thank you!" \n\nWhat now?\n\n[[Turn around]]\n[[Stay where you are]]
You swing, and yet again he dodges.\n\nHe sighs, and shakes his head. Before it all goes black, you can hear the mummy sob a small, choked "sorry".\n\n~END 3 - THE RELUCTANT KILLING - DISCOVERED~\n\n[[Back to last mistake|Swing your sword at the mummy]]
You and Ibby walk through the door together, you clutching the scroll as if it's just as precious as all the gold in there.\n\nThe worker's entrance is small, but you can get through it if you crouch. You sit in front of it and look back at him.\n\n"I guess this is it." He says, his voice not scared, but slightly melancholy. \n\n"Are you sure this is what you want, Ibby?"\n\nHe nods. "Yes. I can finally be with the Gods. I can be at peace. It's just...well, it seems unfair that I should make my first friend in years only hours before I'm going to die, you know?"\n\n[[Hug Ibby]]\n[[Tell him to get on with it]]
"You know, maybe I could just stab you."\n"...You think that'd work? What if there's something in the spell that stops it?"\n"It's worth a go."\n\nHe nods, and stands with his chest pushed out, ready. You suddenly realise, as you draw your sword, that you've begun to think of him as a friend, and you don't really like stabbing your friends.\n\nStill, you plunge the sword forward.\n\nNothing happens.\n\n"Oh. Well, at least we tried!" He smiles. "It was a good idea, really!"\nYou try to pull out your sword, but you can't. Your hand feels stuck to it. And then, your hand begins to burn with a pain unlike any you've felt before. You scream.\n\n"Gina?! Gina, oh no, I said there might be something, oh no..." He tries to pull out the sword, but he can't.\n\nThe pain spreads. You begin to slump the floor.\n\n"Gina, try and hold on, I'm going to--"\n\nIt's too late.\n\n~END 5 - DON'T STAB YOUR FRIENDS - DISCOVERED~\n\n[[Back to last mistake|Comfort him]]
It's a desert. Honestly, there isn't all that much here - mainly sand, camels and cacti. There's a small group of settlers in the distance, but you don't want to bother them.\n\n[[Examine the Pyramid]]\n[[Walk to the Pyramid Entrance]]\n\nTo go back to the start, click "Restart".
"Ibby, what exactly do you want from these records?"\n\n"Everything!" He smiles, nodding, and then pauses. "Well...more specifically, I mean everything would be nice, but...I want to know about me."\n\n"About you?"\n\n"Yes! I um...I don't remember much. And I don't know why I'm still here and no one else is, or why I haven't aged, or anything like that."\n\nHe clearly *has* aged. He's brown and shrunken under those bandages.\n\n[[Tell him]]\n[[Let him continue]]
You're looking for hours. Scrolls become mundane, each one giving you another fresh headache.\n\nYou share out a chocolate bar from your backpack between you and Ibby. It's the first time he's tried chocolate - he likes it! You wonder if in another time, he would have been a chocoholic. The thought makes you smile.\n\n"You look beautiful when you smile!" He says, before turning back to his scroll. You blush, much to your annoyance.\n\nAfter you've looked through so many scrolls the word 'scroll' is starting to sound weird, you find one, a small, understated one at the back of the shelves. It has to be that one - it's always the small, understated one.\n\n[[Look at the small scroll]]\n[[Point it out to Ibby]]\n[[Don't mention it]]
No chance. You're not a large woman, and it's a large pillar.\n\nYou struggle with it for a while, but all you get is a slightly strained shoulder.\n\n[[Look around]]
It's a dead end, but you do see some rather rude carvings of serving girls on the wall. One of them is even...oh no, it's simply too improper to tell!\n\n[[Walk to the middle of the room]]
He begins to speak as you walk down the corridor. "So, Gina! Tell me about yourself. I haven't seen anyone from the surface in a very, very long time! How's the Pharoah?"\n\nYou are unsure how to answer.\n\n[[Tell him the Pharoah is fine. (Lie)]]\n[[Tell him Egypt has changed.]]
You open the bag over the scroll, and words slowly fade out of the page. \n\n"Aha!" Ibby exclaims. "Aah, it worked!"\n"It did!" You're happy yourself - it all seems kind of ridiculous.\n\nThe heiroglyphs say only six words:\n\nTHE SUNLIGHT WILL BREAK THE SPELL.\n\n"Sunlight?" Ibby laughs. "Well that's easy!"\n"Is there a way out?"\nHe nods, pointing back towards the door. "Just through there. The workers entrance. Down the corridor and to the left, under the statue."\n\n[[Go back through the door with Ibby]]\n[[Tell Ibby to go ahead without you (Steal more gold)]]\n[[Take as much gold as you can and run for it]]
You dodge one arrow, then another, then another. You're pretty good at this, moving your arms and legs just in time to miss them. You risk a cocky laugh.\n\nOf course, as soon as you do that, one shoots straight into your leg. \n\nYou're halfway through your swearing and continued dodging when suddenly, the floor gives way underneath you!\n\nSand pours down into a large hole that you are now falling down into, and when you reach the bottom with a loud 'thud!', you see the floor close above you. You're not getting back out that way.\n\nYou pull the arrow out of your leg with only a quiet yell.\n\nIt's very dark where you are. What will you do?\n\n[[Examine area]]\n[[Examine leg wound]]\n[[Call for help]]
It's hard to see, but you can make out the sand you're laid on, a stone floor stretching out into the darkness, and...you peer close and see a skeleton laying next to you, the bones slightly decaying. Lovely.\n\nOther than that, the room seems rather empty. What will you do?\n\n[[Examine skeleton]]\n[[Examine leg wound]]\n[[Call for help]]
You show him. He frowns for a moment, then grins. \n"Well that's fine! He's only sleeping in the--oh. Wait. He's been dead for thousands of years, hasn't he?"\n"Mhm."\n\nHe frowns, looking around. "Well, it's still worth a try. The burial chamber is close by. Let's go and see if Pharoah can do anything for us."\n\nHe walks out, and you follow. After a series of corridors and rooms, you come to a grand, golden doors. He opens them with a whisper and wave of the hand.\n\n[[Walk into the burial chamber (FINAL CHAPTER)|burial chamber]]
You leave through the worker's entrance, sunlight warming your face as you step out onto the sands.\n\nYou feel guilty for being rude to him at the very end, but you couldn't stand knowing your friend was just about to die.\n\nYou take a deep breath, and try to forget about it all.\n\nYou begin to plan your next adventure.\n\nMaybe India.\n\n~END~
"Well..." He puts a finger to his chin. "I need someone to go clean up the west wing for me. Sound good?"\n\n"No." You make a face, shifting to your other foot. "Don't you have anything exciting?"\n\nHe thinks for a moment. "...The west wing has bats?"\n\nIt's not like you have anything better to do.\n\n[[Say you'll do it]]\n[[Refuse]]
"Ibby, you have aged."\n\nHe scoffs. "No I haven't! Look at me - not a day over my thirtieth!"\n\n"...Ibby...you're a mummy."\n\n"A mummy?!" He laughs. "No, I don't have any children. Anyway, I'd be a daddy, then."\n\nWow, that one was obvious. You smack your palm to your forehead. "No, Ibby, I mean you're thousands of years old and look it!" In frustration, you get out your pocket watch and show him himself in the little mirror in the top half.\n\nHe looks in the mirror and frowns at you. "Yes? I look like me. Brown hair, blue eyes and...is that a spot?!" \n\nYou slam the pocket watch shut. You're not getting through to him.\n\n[[Look through some scrolls]]\n
You pick up the scroll nearest to you, which happens to be on your left. \n\nIt appears to be some kind of recipe. \n\n"Pre-heat pot to 450 degrees\nAdd the following ingredients:\n\n1 Cinnamon Stick\n4 Leaves of Mint\n1 Human Skull (pressed)\n1 squirt Squid Ink\n2 pts Monkey Blood\n1 Live Chicken\n3 oz. Brimstone\n1 or more of the following:\npyridoxine hydrochlorine, zinc oxide, yellow 8, mine mononitrate and BHA.\n\nLet bubble over low flame until thickened.\nServes crew of four."\n\n..Hm. You're not sure what that's all about. You put the scroll back.\n\n[[Ask Ibby what he's looking for in here]]
It's a spell, written in strange, perhaps older, forms of heiroglyphs than you're used to. But after some concentrating, you see it's a spell to make someone live forever.\n\nThere's a note at the top.\n\n"Pharoah-\n\nHere is the spell for your guardian. Your tomb will never be distrubed. He will be vigilant, magically powerful and strong." \n\nYou look up at Ibby. ...Naaaaaah.\n\nBut...it does seem to fit. There's even a part of it to make the guardian convinced he's still alive, to 'avoid distress'.\n\nYou start to feel like you should tell Ibby about this.\n\n[[Tell Ibby]]\n[[Continue reading]]\n
"I'll give them back!" You yell, running back past him and to the Altar where you place the offerings.\n\nThe mummy, behind his bandages, seems to be happy.\n\n[[Continue|Put the offerings back]]
He comes over, taking it from you and opening it. \n\n"It has to be this one, ri--Oh." You look over his shoulder - the scroll is completely blank. "Oh..."\n\nHe seems so sad, you take the scroll from him and force a smile. "I'm sure there's just a trick." \n\n[[Examine small scroll]]
You take the plank and shove it underneath the pillar, placing all your weight on the other end. It creaks, and the pillar lifts slightly.\n\n"Yes!!" Ibby yells from behind you, exactly the same moment that the plank cracks in two and the pillar slams back down the ground.\n\nWell.\n\nNow what?\n\n[[Look around|Look around2]]
He seems impressed. "My! In our little pyramid? I'm honoured, Miss! But I don't really think there's much to discover here...still, ask me any questions you want to."\n\n[[Ask if there's any adventuring to be done here]]\n[[Ask whose tomb this is]]\n[[Ask how old he is]]\n[[Ask who the Altar is for]]\n[[Ask what life was like for him in Ancient Egypt]]
You press the button for fire, and the padlock pops off. \n\nYou open the box, revealing a necklace, and a small bottle. There's also a note. \n\n[[Examine necklace]]\n[[Examine bottle]]\n[[Examine note]]
You open the bag, and a foul smelling air gushes out. You pinch the top with your fingers before it runs out.\n\n"Eesh!" Ibby nods. "That's the pharoah's breath alright! He always ate way too many funny fish."\n\n[[Open bag over the scroll]]
It's a small cloth bag, and you're surprised that it's survived this long. It's tied with a small string. When you squish it, it feels like it's stuffed to the brim with air.\n\n[[Open bag]]\n
Nothing happens when you press the button.\n\nIbby comes and sits behind you. "You're actually having trouble with this? Come now, it's a very simple puzzle! Gosh, I could do it in my sleep!"\n\n[[Examine box]]\n[[Look around]]
Now that you can see, you take another look around the room.\n\nIt's rather large, and a huge pile of sand takes up a lot of space in the middle, from where you fell in. Next to the sand lays a skeleton, decayed and crumbling. \n\nThe floor is made of large stone tablets, slightly curved at the corners. You see a ladder in the north-west corner. \n\nNow what?\n\n[[Go up ladder (NEXT CHAPTER)|Go up ladder]]
Arrows thud into your body one after another, each one bringing a new imaginative swear to your lips. Eventually though, it's too much, and you fall down, never to rise again...\n\n~END 2 - WHY DIDN'T YOU MOVE YOU SILLY SOD - DISCOVERED~\n\n[[Back to last mistake|Try to push the tablet]]
You open the small scroll, and find it to be completely blank. \n\nYou wonder if this is some kind of trick, or just spare toilet paper. Either way, you should look closer.\n\n[[Examine small scroll]]
You stare at him, your large green eyes shaking slightly in pure fear.\n\n"Don't be scared! Seriously, I'm just Sekhemib. Nothing scary here." He spreads his hands in an open gesture.\n\n[[Say Hello]]\n[[Ask the mummy how it can speak English]]\n[[Unsheathe your sword]]
He jumps deftly out the way, not seeming stiff depsite his bandages and shrunken appearance. \n\n"Look, can't we settle this like decent people?" He pauses. "-My special powers!"\n\n[[Swing again]]\n[[Put your sword away and give the offerings back|Put the offerings back]]
Your leg hurts, but it's nothing that you can't live with. You get some bandages out of your pack and pull up your skirt to tie them on. You press down the little button with the plant on it.\n\nNothing happens, and you hear Ibby tut behind you.\n\n"Oh come on, it isn't /that/ hard. It's almost as if they just opened a book of riddles and picked the first one on the page."\n\n[[Examine box]]\n[[Look around]]
You're back in the middle.\n\n[[Go north]]\n[[Go east]]
It takes some time, but you scribble down the words in your notebook. They read:\n\n<html>\n<center>\n GRAVE ROBBERS AND ADVENTURERS\n<br>\n NOT WELCOME AT ALL\n<br>\n STAY OFF THE SAND\n</center>\n</html>\n\nHm. He does so without question. "I understand. I'd want to spend more time with Pharoah, too." He leaves with a final glance back at you. \n\nYou quickly take all the gold you can find and stuff it in your pack, following him only minutes later.\n\n[[Continue]]
You light the torch and take it off the wall. Ah, now you can see.\n\n[[Examine room]]
You catch up with Ibby just in front of the worker's entrance.\n\nThe worker's entrance is small, but you can get through it if you crouch. Talking mummies is weird, but you've seen weirder. Reasonably unphased, you smile at him and wave back.\n\n"Hello. I'm Gina Harrison, Adventurer and Historian." You're not a historian. You just added that to sound cool.\n\n"Hello Gina! I'm Sekhemib. I guide the tomb." He nods, smiling at you through his bandages. "Why are you here?"\n\nYou consider. It may not be best to tell him you're here for riches and pillaging.\n\n[[Tell him you're here for riches and pillaging]]\n[[Say you're here to discover new historical facts]]\n[[Say you got lost]]
You try to grab onto the side and gently lower yourself in, but it's very slippery and you fall, hitting your leg.\n\nThe entrance closes above you, and you're left on a pile of sand. It's very dark in here. What do you do?\n\n[[Examine area]]\n[[Examine leg wound]]\n[[Call for help]]

\n\n[[Leave the pyramid|Leave the pyramid 3]]
You begin to take your sword out.\n\n"That isn't necessary at all! I'm not going to hurt you! If you try hurt me, I can--I will fight back!" He seems quite confident.\n\n[[Swing at him]]\n[[Put the sword away and say Hello|Say Hello]]\n
Ibby doesn't see you as you pocket the gold, but you still feel slightly guilty. You know he wouldn't like it. But you do want /something/ out of this whole ordeal. The gold is chilly in your pocket.\n\n[[Help Ibby]]
It's completely blank on both sides. You turn it other a few times and sigh. There's nothing there.\n\nYou look at the pegs keeping it rolled up, and to your surprise see a small line of heiroglyphs, which read:\n\n"Pharoah only may read these words. His breath is the key."\n\nOh. \n\n[[Show Ibby]]
You reach out to take the dog tags but stop, your hand pausing just before it reaches your pocket. It feels wrong, somehow.\n\nTrue, you are an adventurer, which means you're basically a glorified thief most of the time, but this fills you with an intense sense of guilt. \n\nYou place the dog tags back by the skeleton.\n\n[[Back|Examine area]]
You raise your foot, ready to stomp the box, but Ibby reaches out and grabs your arm before you can, pulling you backwards.\n\n"Don't! What if someone loves that box? He laughs, a raspy, dry sound. "But there's nothing to take!"\n\n"What about the solid gold Altar?" You point to it, raising an eyebrow - he's not going to trick you that easily.\n\n"Solid gold!? Gosh, no!" He's laughing even more. "I painted it gold! But it's actually stone. I thought gold was more suitable for the Gods." \n\n"Oh." You feel a bit cheated.
