Cold. The whole atomosphere was cold. The air was cold, the wooden floors were cold. Everything didnt seem to emit any type of heat for you to get warm. Even being underneath all these covers didn't seem to help. You could still feel the cold biting down into your bones. You glanced out from under the covers and glanced around your room. There was an erie pale light that seemed to emit from the window. Your eyes glanced over at the light, squinting your eyes a bit. It was December and the snow was falling heavily. Outside looked like a winter wonderland but you had already grown tired of the temperature that came with it. You loved the way how the snow looked but hated everything else. You had to do something. Either stay or drink something hot.
[[Stay and try to get warm]] [[Go to the kitchen]] You think maybe if you just stay put and let your body heat warm up the covers everything would be good. You snuggle more into your bed, your phone still charging and your laptop next you. Maybe you could distract yourself from all this?
[[Check your phone]] [[Open your laptop]] Enough of this. Grabbing the top cover and wrapping yourself in it, you head to your small kitchen in search of a hot beverage. You suddenly regret your decision as your foot makes contact with the floor. Groaning out in pain, you quickly move, searching the drawers for a packet of hot cocoa or apple cider. Not finding anything of the like you turn to face the rest of the kitchen to see your cabinet and your fridge running softly.
[[Check the cabinet]] [[Open the fridge]] Grabbing the small device, you press the power button lightly. The soft glow from it's screen lights up your face and the area around it. You scrolled through your pages, not really finding your games interesting. Going over to one of your social media apps only for it screen to read that there was no internet connection. Frowning in confusion, you disconnect and then reconnect from the wifi only for the message to be read again. Sighing out, you switch to your data hoping that using the actual internet that you pay for will work. Still the message remains causing a small groan coming from your mouth. Throwing your phone on your bed, you sighed out heavily. You could either start getting dressed or continue trying to get warm in bed.
[[Try to get warm]] [[Get dressed]] The laptop's metallic skin was cold to the touch as you lifted it's top cover. The bright screen cut through the dull lighting, hurting your eyes a bit. Squinting and dimming the brightness, you tried to check your social media. However, nothing was loading properly and constantly kept saying that the web content was unavailable. Sighing heavily, you checked your internet connection only to see that there was not even a sliver of a bar. Deciding to give up on that avenue, you decided to play a few offline games letting to time tick past you while the games lulled on. After awhile, the light peeking from the window started to die down. It was turning to mid afternoon already. Closing your laptop, you stretched in place. You really didn't mean to stay in bed all day but what's done is done. Turning to the other side, you curled into a ball readying yourself for sleep. As you felt yourself slowly drift off, you heard a loud knocking coming from your front door.
[[Check the door]] [[Go to sleep]] The smell of something foul hit your nose as soon as you opened the refrigerator door. Hand going quickly to plug your nose, you looked around to see where the smell was coming from. There were a few items of what used to be food scattered about on various shelves. Your stomach turned and suddenly a wave of dizziness hit you, making you quickly shut the door. Stumbling back, you held your stomach as the room continued to spin. A few moments later, everything slowed down and you felt the pressure on your stomach lighten. Letting out a groan, you decided to still head somewhere in case your stomach decided to turn on you at the last moment. The bathroom maybe? Or just hover or the kitchen sink?
[[Head to the bathroom]] [[Hover over the sink]] Letting a huff, you wandered back to the bedroom trying to figure out what to do about this empty stomach of yours. Rubbing your stomach lightly, you looked around trying to find something to distract yourself. A few bottles of water laid on the floor and you knew that they were the quickest way to quite your hunger. Drinking them one by one, the pain in your stomach had lessened and the headache that had slowly started up because of lack of food in your apartment. Laying out on your bed, you stared at the white ceiling. The silence started to take over your senses and then that's when you could hear the quiet howling of wind from outside, the snow still coming down heavily. Would it ever stop? You'd lost count of when exactly everything started but knew half of the world went crazy about it. After awhile the fuss stopped and the world grew quiet. You wondered if you were the last human alive just trying to pass the time. Was living even worth it?
[[It's not]] Opening the cabinet doors, you were greet with barren shelves. You patted them only to let a dust cloud appear. Making a face, you wiped your hand on your blanket to get rid of grime that appeared. You continue to pat more at the shelves, only to let out a shout at the feeling of something crawling across your hand. You quickly pulled your hand away and shook off whatever was on you while making a face. You turned a bit, feeling a little discouraged at how little you really had in your tiny apartment. Your stomach growled lightly at the discovery causing you to lightly touch the area. Maybe you should give up the search in general or go outside and buy some food?
[[Go outside]] [[Go back to the bedroom]] Deciding to roll out of bed burrito that you had curled into, you walked over to your dresser and rummaged through it. There was only a few items inside. A couple of shirts, pants, some undergarments. Nothing was really worth any value but they were clothes to put on to cover your body. Slipping something simple on, you felt a bit better with actual clothes on as you wandered about your room. Grabbing your phone off your bed, you headed to your window. Glancing out into the snow, you could barely see the sidewalk or streets as it continued to snow heavily. You decided to take a few photos with your phone, getting a few good shots in. However something caught your attention. Someone was staring back at you in the snow. A sudden chill went down your spine as you continued to stared at the figure.
[[Quickly look away]] You felt your body drop in temperature as you stared hard at the door. Who the hell could be knocking at this hour? You knew you had no neighbors around you in the complex because you specifally asked for none when you sought out this housing. Realizing you were still in pajamas, you grabed a robe from your closet and headed out to your small living room. You stared hard at the door waiting for another sound or something else to happen. Sure enough a loud banging erupted from the door and causing you to hunch down in a defensive mode. Quickly heading to the door, you look through the peephole but only see darkness. The person was covering it up so you couldn't see on the other side. A cold chill went down your spine at this fact and you were stuck.
[[Open the door]] Slowly drifitng off into a peaceful sleep, you dream of various things. It was mainly of white emptiness. Some images flashed in and out but nothing really solid. Dreams werent really stories for you like they were for others. Mainly just flashes of color and then you'd wake up in a couple of hours. This time something was different. The colors were a bit darker, more faded than their usual vibrant selfs. Something was wrong. Quickly trying to wake yourself from your sleep, you could hear the wind howling at the window. It seemed to beg you to let it and you were wondering for a moment if it was the noise that was unsettling you or something else.
[[Go back to sleep]] [[Wake up and see]] You curled more under the sheets, still wondering why nothing was working. You were sure that your body heat would've warmed everything up by now but still the sheets felt like ice against your skin. Twisting and turning didn't seem to do anything but make you even colder. Worrying that you would never get warm, you plugged in your laptop charger and placed the battery under the sheets with you. In a matter of seconds, the battery was warmed and started heated up the area around it with your body included in that. Now that your body was finally starting to get warm and still curled under the sheets, you could feel your body starting to lag. When did you get this sleepy? You hardly did anything all day yet you never felt this tired before. You hadn't eaten at all but that would require you to move. Should you stay and sleep or try to get something in your stomach before you drift off?
[[Go to sleep]] [[Get some food]] Deciding that trying to go outside was the better option, you headed to the front door. You started to grab your heavy coat and scarf, wanting to layer up as much as possible. You grabbed your boots and set about lacing them up your feet, finally feeling ready to face the outside. Stuffing your keys into your pocket, you opened the door and walked down the long hallway. Heading to front door of the apartment complex, you could hear the wind howling outside. You resolve waivered a bit before your stomach urged you on. Sighing out heavily, you open the door only to get smacked in the face by the cold wind. Continuing to walk outside, the snow crunched under your feet. You could barely hear the door shut by the fierce wind as you continued to head out into the white wonderland. After a few minutes of walking, you noticed that everything was slowly turning into the same thing over and over. Feeling fear wash over you, you werent wether to go right or left.
[[Go right]] [[Go left]] Deciding to head to the kitchen, your feet quickly pattered against the floor. The cold seemed to bite through your bare feet with everything step you took. The kitchen was white and smelled sterile, a result from your over cleaning habits you suppose. Moving to the fridge, you quietly opened the door to see the fridge fully stocked with various food. The sight of everything made your stomach growl happily in delight. Grabbing a few items, you set about cooking a real hot soup. After awhile you let the ingredients simmer quietly, the aroma filling your tiny apartment much to your deligt. You sat down in one of the small kitchen chairs, smelling the air around you in joy. Minutes later your meal was done and you quickly set about putting it in a bowl. Sitting back down, you quickly set about eating your food. The warm liquid warmed you up with every bite you took. Once finishing, you debated on whether to go to sleep or to use the restroom first.
[[Go to sleep]] [[Head to the bathroom]] Heading right, you felt the wind blow harder and wondered if this was a bad idea. You knew a gas station was up the way but getting their would be the challenge. Continuing on this path, your body tempture started to drop and you could hardly feel your hands or your feet. After a few moments, seeing anything in front of you was near impossible as it seemed the storm had picked up. Trying to still manage, the wind had pushed you forward, face first into the snow. However the impact was not soft as you felt your leg snapped from the shear force it pushing you over. Crying out in pain, it was near impossible for you to move and check the damage. Feeling helpless you cried out for help but your cries died in the harsh wind. Minutes later, you were frozen. The blood that had leaked out from the injury had frozen itself against your leg and you were fully buried in the snow. You were fully lost to the...Cold. Something wasn't right. The room kept spinning and finding your way to the door felt like an enternity. Struggling to turn the knob, you felt another wave of emotions hit you. Deja Vu. You've smelt something rotting before but something worse. Finally getting the door open, there was a strong smell coming from the bathtub. From the light humming coming from the other side of the shower curtain, you tell there were flies. Something was rotting in your bathroom. Suddenly you felt more tired then ever. Decided to just curl up into a ball, you let sleep take over. In that moment you suddenly remembered that the water supply had been poisoned a long time ago during the time that the snow started to fall. People were losing their minds and fighting over everything, including the water. The snow wasnt edible either since it was discovered to be from a nuclear explosion changing the atomsphere of the world.
